Guitar 2 Session 2 Rocks

Okay so class last night rocked!!! You guys can sing your butts off. If you weren't there here is what you missed. We all took our clothes off and .... okay so that didn't happen.

What we did:

1. ) We went over the importance of the I, IV, V progression in modern popular music.
2. ) We learned how to use the Nashville numbering system to change keys.
3. ) We learned how to emote through our instruments.
4. ) The Songs we covered were "Who'll Stop the Rain" and "Like A Rolling Stone".

What you practice:

1. ) Go over the simple key chart I gave you and just browse it. Get used to changing keys, experiment a bit. Don't worry about memorizing it just learn how to use it.

2.) One of the things we have a problem with is keeping a steady strum. We have to be careful about our tendency to speed up on everything.

3.) Remember even though I was being really silly about emoting through your instrument this is an important aspect of playing. You set the mood with the way you strum. When you set the texture and rhythm you set the mood.

4.) Lastly, remember that the things we are learning about are things that we are learning about. Theses are not things you are supposed to know they are things you are L-E-A-R-N-I-N-G. So breathe, practice slow enough that you can think about what you are doing.

5.) Don't forget to have play time with your guitar. You do it for your children, dogs and loved ones why not your guitar.

6.) Monique, India Arie is coming... I promise....

See you guys next week...
